Two head coaching positions remain open in Mid-Del Schools.

Midwest City High School is searching for a wrestling head coach and Carl Albert High School is looking for a new girls basketball head coach.

Cory Wilson stepped down after seven years as the Bombers wrestling coach to accept a similar position at Norman High School. During his tenure, Wilson led the team two district championships and two dual state appearances. He coached several state tournament qualifiers including two state runners-up in Carlos Freeman and Korey Walker.

The school is looking for an experienced coach that can grow the program. The Bombers have produced several strong wrestlers in recent year but struggled with low participation.

“We’re looking for someone to pull up their sleeves and build the program back up,” said Darrell Hall, Midwest City High School athletic director. “Coach (Wilson) had been implementing a good program to work with our younger kids. And we want someone to build off that.”

Tim Flanigan resigned after one season as the Lady Titans head coach.

“The team needs someone that can devote a lot of time and effort and I can’t do that now,” Flanigan said. “I have a young family and need to spend more time with them. And that’s not fair to the team.”

Flanigan came to Carl Albert after eight years at Guthrie. He guided the Lady Titans to the state tournament last year.

Gary Rose, Carl Albert athletic director, said they hope to find the best coach for the position as soon as possible.

Del City High School also plans to fill a vacancy with their boys basketball program. Tim Stogsdill recently resigned to take a head coaching position at Southmoore. Lenny Hatchett, Edmond Santa Fe head coach, is expected to be named the Eagles new head coach during the July
