Tuttle youth participate in Northern District Fair

Amber hosted the latest Northern District Fair Friday and Saturday at Amber-Pocasset High School. The event rotates annually between Minco, Tuttle and Amber with Tuttle up next in 2017. The fair features competitions within agriculture, the many aspects of 4-H, and a pageant.
The fair began Friday morning with judges awarding ribbons for Open Division items, crops and more. Saturday morning, the livestock show included horses, swine, sheep, goats, beef and dairy cattle. A cake auction later that night was followed by the crowning of the new Miss Northern District.
Named Miss Congeniality at the Tuttle Fair the previous weekend, Tuttle’s Allie Surber won the pageant and the crown of Miss Northern District 2016.
Tuttle ladies finished in the top three at the Northern District Fair Saturday evening, and the Miss Northern District title went from one Tuttle girl to another. 2015 Miss Northern District Peighton Coleman handed the crown off to Allie Surber. The second runner-up was Addison Allred and the first runner-up 2016 Miss Tuttle Kaylin Koeltzow.
Miss Talent was Jennifer Kennedy of Amber, and Hannah Coppenbarger from Bridge Creek was Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality.
Several Tuttle showmen competed with the best livestock in the three-town area, winning breed champion in multiple events. The livestock show featured more than a dozen Tuttle champions. Tristan Gambill won Senior Showmanship Champion and Grand Champion Barrow with his Hampshire.
Other Tuttle champions at the hog show were Hunter Hines for Chester barrows, Allison Ragsdale for Berkshire barrows, Hannah Lee for spot barrows, Elizabeth Bailey for Hampshire gilts, and Chyann Emerson for Berkshire gilts.
For dairy, Emily Boyer was Grand Champion Dairy Female and the Senior Showmanship Champion. Her sister Kim Boyer was Junior Showmanship Champion.
Destynn Emerson won every category for goats with Grand Champion Wether and Grand Champion Doe as well as finishing as the Junior Showmanship Champion.
The Beef Division winners from Tuttle were Whitney Seely with Champion Hereford, and Kim Boyer with Champion Shorthorn.
Taylor McGill raised a Champion Hamp Ewe and Champion Cross Ewe. She finished as Junior Showmanship Champion. Sarah Lowmiller had the Reserve Grand Wether with a cross, and she was Senior Showmanship Champion.
