Choctaw wins Carl Albert Tournament

Choctaw High School’s varsity volleyball squad won the Carl Albert Titan Invitational Tournament over the weekend.
The Lady Yellowjackets redeemed their only loss of the tourney, and secured gold after beating Shawnee in five games (25-20, 23-25, 24-26, 25-20 and 13-15).

CHS opened the tourney with a 3-0 sweep of Chickasha (25-17 25-16, and 25-15), and later beat Class 5A’s No. 12 Piedmont team (25-17, 25-17 and 25-15) to advance to the Gold Bracket on Saturday.

Third time’s the charm vs. Shawnee
Saturday the Lady Jackets stopped Yukon 3-0, and beat Shawnee after the Lady Wolves had rallied to a 3-0 win on Friday.
Saturday’s win over the Lady Wolves was the third meeting of the year with the first two going to Shawnee in three.
CHS went 4-1 at Carl Albert to advance to 8-5 on the season.
Thursday Choctaw will host Yukon, Sept. 6 Choctaw will host and Putnam City North and Sept. 8 the Lady Jackets will host rival Midwest City.
Freshman, junior varsity and varsity games are played at 4, 5 and 6 p.m.
