Mustang law firm to hand out free turkeys to families in need
Lawyers across the state of Oklahoma are coming together this November to help provide Thanksgiving turkeys to families in need. A group of attorneys from Canadian County will gather at the Denton Law Firm (925 West State Highway 152) from 10 am to noon on Wednesday, November 23 to hand out turkeys to needy families. will also be served at the event. First come first serve. In order to receive a free turkey, you must show your WIC, TANF, SNAP card or social security disability card.
Registration to receive a free turkey begins at 10 am at the Denton Law Firm located at 925 West State Highway in Mustang. The turkey handout will last until noon, or until supplies run out. If you get there early and get a ticket early, you have a better chance of getting a turkey.
Lawyers Fighting Hunger was established in 2009 by a group of Oklahoma City attorneys and has now spread to Tulsa County, Cleveland County and most recently Canadian County. Lawyers Fighting Hunger is a non-profit organization in Oklahoma City that works with the Regional Food Bank to order and distribute turkeys to needy families. Every dollar raised by the Canadian County Bar Association helps purchase and distribute turkeys for Canadian County residents.
“Who doesn’t love Thanksgiving?!,” said Nathan Richter, attorney with the Denton Law Firm. “It is a day where we surround ourselves with the people we love, watch football, and enjoy great food and try to forget the stresses of our daily lives. On this day, we fill our souls with love from our family and count our blessings. Regardless of our political party, race, or gender, we all have this in common.”
“Even though lawyers are blessed to help people every day, the nature of our work is often very serious and heavy on our clients,” says Richter. “We know there are other needs in our community that need to be met, aside from what we are able to help with on a daily basis. We are hopeful the blessings of Thanksgiving are spread through this event to even more people than we normally reach. Our lives are better when we work to help each other. We are humbled and honored to be able to provide turkeys to the citizens of Canadian County every year.”
