Union City Fire Chief David Jones named 2019’s Citizen of the Year

The Lion’s Club will be hosting their annual pancake/sausage/scrambled eggs supper on Thursday, November 14 from 5 pm to 7 pm at St. Joseph’s Hall, located at 403 Kate Boevers in Union City.

The Union City Lion’s Club has honored Fire Chief David Jones as the 2019 Citizen of the Year.

Mr. Jones serves the city as a first responder, water superintendent, animal control officer, and safety training coordinator, and also supervises the city’s maintenance work crew.

The Lion’s Club serves the community by supporting the school’s Academic Awards Banquet, two Students of the Month, sponsoring members of the 4H/FFA programs at livestock shows, provides a partial scholarship for a high school senior each year, and assists Union City students that need glasses.

The club also recognizes 11 national holidays by distributing our National Flag throughout the community.

The club’s regularly-scheduled meetings are held on the second and fourth Thursday at the Union City High School Library at 7:30 pm.
