The largest commercial development in Oklahoma City is underway in the Mustang-Yukon area. Mustang Creek Crossing is 260 acres of restaurant, retail, medical, office, hotel, urban housing, and industrial development.
It is conveniently located between Mustang Road and Sara Road off the Kilpatrick Tollway at SW 15th.
Developers see a big need for high end development in the area. Population and housing is exploding as Canadian County is the fastest growing county in Oklahoma.
“The housing in this area is booming. Call any home developer and find out that this area is expanding rapidly. This is the Mustang School District and they’re expanding,” said Hayes Brokerage President Don Hayes.
Mustang Creek Crossing is going to be a high-end development with a wide variety of businesses.
“It’s a high end multi use development with restaurants, hotels, entertainment, medical, multi family and regional style stores. Major box store to regional and local tenants,” said Hayes.
The property has Mustang Creek going right through it and developers plan to use those natural surroundings.
“Will probably have numerous water features-just to the west of Mustang Creek-that will be able to sell pad sites to restaurants. We’re defining our water feature areas in some of that dirt work that is going on right now. So, we’re going to try to beautify that area,” said Hayes.
Developers are also looking to turn Mustang Creek Crossing into an entertainment destination.
“We’re looking for entertainment uses. The same kind of deal that Chisholm Creek has put together up on the north side. They’ve gotten Top Golf. We’ve been looking for some entertainment uses and venues that are outdoor opportunities,” said Hayes.
Mustang Creek Crossing wants to be the go-to place for shopping. Including grocery shopping.
“We are looking for a grocery store. We’re negotiating with a couple that are a little bit higher end,” he said.
One of the selling points Is the visibility and easy access along the Kilpatrick Turnpike.
Hayes added, “This has better access and visibility than probably 95 percent of commercial properties that line the Kilpatrick Tollway-from I-35 all the way down to this location. Visibility and access are probably better than any other property along that corridor. When development starts occurring it should take on a pretty good eye experience-visually.”
The development is so big that it has a tunnel that goes underneath the Kilpatrick Turnpike. The tunnel connects up the East portion of the major development to the west side.
Wendy’s is the first business to open at Mustang Creek Crossing and OnCue is supposed to start dirt work this week. A tunnel wash will also be connected to the Oncue. For information about pre-leasing and sales call 405-417-5263
“We are marketing pad site opportunities right now,” said Hayes.
I’d like to see a park or some kind of kids outdoors recreational area, get kids outside to play and be kids our state it’s one of the highest on childhood obesity and there’s only the Mustang park in the area, it’ll be nice a skate park or bicycle trail, walking pathway around the area where people can go for a morning run, we have nothing like that in our community, I understand money it’s important but so it’s healthy people to work and have money to spend in all this business you’re planning to make, thank you.
I agree with you however these are businesses that want to make money. Our roads in this area are NOT set up for the kind of traffic they have around Chisholm Creek. Roads would need to be widened and more traffic lights installed. I live less than 1/2 mile from this intersection. Very sad.
I agree with the concerns about the roads. We live a mile from here and it is already really congested in places during morning and afternoon rush hours and school drop off and pick up. I hope they are planning on widening SW 15th and Sara Rd as part of this, hopefully to include a left hand turn lane in the needed areas.
Wildhorse Park has most of that.

The Yukon Community Park has a nice trail for walking/biking. It also has a playground for young children. The playground is just across from the elementary school on Holly.

Does anyone know what grocery store is going in?
Are there any updates on what all is proposed or set to come. With the new Medallion development going in just south of NW10, just west of Cemetery road, we would like more information on this one.
We have lived in this area long enough to remember Mustang Road as a two lane road, trees trimmed by big trucks, giving a tunneling effect, no traffic lights except at Reno, and at SW 59th. At least a third of our development was not even built, it is filled in now and several new ones south of us are built. Several new houses are built or under construction near Sara road.
