EOC cross country teams get started

Area schools beat the COVID-19 and the competition Saturday as the 2020 OSSAA Cross Country season tipped off.

The Choctaw Lady Jackets flexed their muscles big-time at the unique Norman Relay meet where teams of four each ran 1.5 miles as Jay Reaves’ Ladies romped to the championship in a time of 39.56.

For good measure, the Choctaw girls B squad finished in the No. 6 slot with a time of 44.40.

Westside powers Westmoore, Norman, Newcastle and Santa Fe South were sandwiched between the two Choctaw teams.

The Del City Lady Eagles cracked the top 20 with a No. 13 finish.

CHOCTAW BOYS were even more prolific as they placed four teams in the top 20 with the Jackets A squad taking the No. 5 slot with a time of 33.12, followed by the B team at No. 9 in 22.

The Jackets followed Westmoore, Edmond North A, Norman and Edmond North B in the standings.

The Choctaw C team was No. 15 in 36.35 and the Jackets D boys were No. 21 in 37.54, just behind Del City A which was No. 20 in 37.50. The Del City B squad finished No. 34.

HARRAH GIRLS placed second at the Stroud Invitational behind powerful Lincoln Christian as senior Katie Klimkowski logged a 6.06 to finish in the No. 6 position. Also scoring points for the

Lady Panthers were Bailey Mooney, No. 9 in 6.12 and No. 15 Alyssa Hughey in 6.23. Austin Austain registered on the leader board for the Panther boys with a time of 13.26, good for No. 21.
