SHAWNEE – Both Choctaw Yellowjackets boys and girls cross country teams claimed team championships at the OBU Invitational Cross Country Meet on Saturday at the Gordon Cooper Tech Center course.
Kristen Kirk was the individual winner in the girls race that saw all 7 runners from CHS win individual medals. Kirk’s winning time was 20:52.99 and the Lady Jackets had 31 points with Edmond Memorial 2nd and McGuinness 3rd behind them.
Aiden Hoover finished second to lead a clean sweep for all 7 members to claim medals as the Jackets posted 30 points to outdistance Bethany and McGuinness.
Joining Kirk in the medal round were No. 4 Elizabeth DeGaston in 21:13.86, No. 7 Kate Brown in 21:35.88, No. 9 Kylee Hall in 22:33.75 and No. 10 Lauren Kirk in 22:38.59. Displacers Brooklyn Scott (No. 14) and Hannah DeGaston (No. 20) also got medals.
Also competing for the Lady Jackets were McKenna Huston, Alyssa Baldwin, Emma Reeves and Kierra Hoover.
THOMAS WELCH posted a 17:54 to take 4th in the boys race behind Hoover and was joined in the medal circle by No. 5. Jordan Crawley in 18:03.20, No. 8 Jacob Hojnacki in 18:19.26 and Nathan Dillinger, No. 11 in 18:37.33. Displacers No. 14 Brennan Kirk and No. 17 Cole Green also received medals.
Also representing CHS were Logan Hoover, Patrick Bork and Adam Morris.
HARRAH GIRLS RUNNERUP
The Harrah Lady Panthers had four girls in the medal round to finish second to Community Christian in the 2A-3A-4A division at OBU
Katie Klimkowski led the way for the Lady Panthers as usual with a No. 6 finish in 13:29.86 in the 3200M race. Also winning medals were No. 9 Baylee Mooney in 13:46.47, No. 18 Alyssa Hughey in 14:41.26 and No. 19 Lilly Killgore in 14:42.82. Taylor Otoe was No. 22 in 15:05.93 and displacers were Taylen Middendorf and Cadence Lawson.
Luis Beller-Gardner was a medal in the boys race with a No. 16 finish in 19:22.50. Joining him in the competition were No. 31 Kennedy Garrett in 21:05.19, No. 36 John Hogue in 21:27.92 and No. 58 Kayleb Gable in 27:50.12.
