Boy shot and in killed in Midwest City

A 12-year-old boy was fatally shot late Wednesday night, Midwest City police said.

Around 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to Sand Hills Apartments, 1424 N. Midwest Boulevard on a possible shooting.

When police arrived, several bystanders were rendering first aid to a 12-year-old boy who had been shot in the chest.  The victim, earlier reported as a runaway from Midwest City, was transported to OU Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.  His parents have been notified.

According to witnesses, several juveniles were loitering in front of an apartment in the complex when a shot was fired.  The juveniles then fled the scene and that is when the victim was found lying on the ground, fatally wounded.

“Currently, our agency is trying to locate any witnesses present at the time our victim was shot,” Chief Brandon Clabes said.  “We are classifying the investigation as a homicide at this point and will have a better understanding as to what took place once we gather the facts.”

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to contact the Midwest City Police Department at (405) 739-1388 or (405) 739-1306.
