Carl Albert’s Marlee Hunter and Choctaw’s Josie Thomas were both named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State volleyball team. The seniors will represent the Large West squad in the all-state game scheduled for July 27.
Hunter helped Carl Albert reach the semifinals of the Class 5A state tournament. The Tians beat Skiatook in the first round for their first state tournament win in school history, before losing to eventual state champion-Victory Christian.
Carl Albert has had a senior selected for the all-state volleyball team the past four years. Hunter follows Carmae Jones (2019), Renee McBride-Rogers (2018) and her sister Mat Hunter (2017).
Thomas was a key contributor for the Yellowjackets this season. Choctaw won the Big 8 Conference championship and reached the finals of the regional tournament.
