Halloween might be over but the candy eating is at an all time high. Candy sales are booming during the pandemic. More people are staying home and enjoying their favorite candies all year long.
Candy sales have risen above normal levels and are up 3.8% according to the National Confectionary Association. Halloween candy sales were up a whopping 12% this year. That trend puts the 2020 holiday season candy sales in the ballpark of $2.13B.

So what are you and your neighbors munching on during the holidays? According to candystore.com it’s Reindeer Corn. Oklahomans love their Candy Canes, Skittles and Reindeer Corn.
I have to chuckle because I’ve never heard of Reindeer Corn. Is that a joke? What is Reindeer Corn? Is that feed you throw out in the grass for Rudolph and the Reindeer?
This popular Christmas candy is a festive take on the classic fall Candy Corn. Reindeer Corn is tender and chewy mellocreme Candy Corn, dressed for Christmas. It’s red, white and green in color. Reindeer Corn is real and Oklahomans are buying a lot of it. Candy Canes are number one with Reindeer Corn coming in second place.

I’m not a big fan of Candy Corn and doubt I will enjoy Reindeer Corn. I’ll take a Chocolate Santa please.

Other popular candies this year include Hershey Kisses, Reese’s Pieces, Starburst, Peppermint Bark, Snickers and M&M’s.

So what is the absolute worst Christmas Candy? There are actually a lot of bad choices. Candystore.com has released the #1 worst holiday candy.

Are you ready? Drum roll please…this years worst holiday candy is the chocolate-covered Cherry Cordials. This makes me laugh…because that’s my dads #1 favorite holiday candy. But I have to agree with candystore.com. I think they are nasty. You better wear a bib because the inside candy juice will go all over you. You have a chocolate outer shell with a cherry and clear-ish gooey liquid inside. They are just very messy and hard to eat. I can’t stomach more than one at a time.

Who remembers the Old-Fashioned Hard Candy Mix? That’s the assorted holiday candy grandma always had in the candy dish. It also made the list of worst holiday candies this year. The flavors are weird and taste like fruity rocks. Those assorted Christmas candies are colorful but not so tasty.

Another hated holiday candy is the Christmas Tree Nougat. You know the candy I’m taking about. It looks like a gooey poker chip with a Christmas tree in the middle. It has a minty flavor and sticks to your teeth. It has a bad texture and bad taste. Stay away from the Christmas Tree Nougat.

People love to include candy as part of their holiday celebrations and this year has a popular new trend.

Hot cocoa bombs are taking hot chocolate to the next level. Hot chocolate bombs are little balls of chocolate that you put into a mug. When you pour hot milk into the mug, the chocolate melts and magically releases the marshmallows and cocoa hiding inside. It’s fun to watch them burst open with delicious hot cocoa mix and marshmallows.

Turn on some Christmas lights and turn up the holiday tunes. Enjoy a Cocoa Bomb and maybe even some little Reindeer Corn. Even during a pandemic, it’s still the most wonderful time of the year.
