The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted many things in 2020 including the planning of weddings and special events across the globe.
A new year and vaccines on the horizon have given way to hoping that 2021 can be a rebound year for weddings and other special events including for Teena Milam with Castle Event Rentals, at 1106 E. State Highway 152 in Mustang.
A certified wedding and event planner, Milam has been in business since 2016, and opened her Mustang location last May.
“It starting to get busier and busier,” she said. “We like Mustang. It is very convenient to any venue that we work at. We can be at just about any venue in the area within 30 minutes.”
Milam and her husband moved to Mustang to be closer to their daughter, who operates The Medieval Garden, in the same building as Castle Event Rentals.
Milam, a two-year breast cancer survivor, previously hosted weddings and special events at her previous home known as the Milam Castle.
“We opened up our house to host weddings, and in the process my event planning got more involved,” she said. “Most of the things we have stemmed from having Milam Castle.”
Castle Event Rentals is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by appointment.
They offer a variety of services and have a growing inventory for weddings and special events including pictures from Dragon Pics Photobooth.
“I customize everything I do for them,” she said. “You can knock out a lot of vendors right here. You don’t have to go hunt a lot of different people. It is those little details that make the difference.”
Milam is hopeful 2021 will be a brighter year.
“I feel like in 2021 people will be less afraid to venture out and do things,” she said.
