Tennis: Carl Albert girls win share of regional title

The Carl Albert girls tennis team won a share of the regional championship Monday afternoon at Heritage Hall.

Carl Albert and host Heritage Hall tied for first place in the state tournament qualifier. The Titans advanced to the Class 5A State Tournament in all four positions, including a pair of first place finishes.

Freshman Rylee Reese won the title at No. 2 singles, as did the No. 2 doubles team of seniors Ashton Bryant and Maddie Biggers. Reese topped Heritage Hall’s Kali Freymiller in the finals, 6-1, 6-2. Bryant and Biggers beat Heritage Hall in the finals 6-3, 6-3.

Placing second were Mabyn Shuffield (No. 1 singles), and Emily Boyer and Kaylee Toney (No. 1 doubles).

Heritage Hall won both the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles titles.

The OSSAA girls tennis state tournament is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.
