Mid-Del names new principals

Mid-Del Schools continues to shape its administrative team for next school year.

During a May 18 special meeting, the school board approved new principals for Steed Elementary and Midwest City High School.

 

Caren Rickwalt was named the new head principal at Steed Elementary, and Darcy Budde was chosen as the assistant principal at Midwest City High School.

 

Rickwalt has worked in education for 17 years, with the past three serving as assistant principal at Midwest City Elementary. She received her bachelor’s in elementary education from Oklahoma State University and her master’s in education leadership from the University of Central Oklahoma.

 

She will replace Patrice Tucker who moved to Pleasant Hill Elementary.

 

Budde has spent her whole career in Mid-Del, dating back to 2005. She currently serves as the assistant principal at Del City Middle School and previously worked at MCHS. She received her bachelor’s in secondary math from Oklahoma State University and her master’s in education leadership from the University of Central Oklahoma.

 

She replacesAndra Gilkey who recently accepted a position as director of alternative and virtual education for the district.

 

The school district made other internal moves for principals. Tammy Roberson will move from Pleasant Hill Elementary to Barnes Elementary. Charita Hunt is moving from Barnes Elementary to Midwest City Elementary. And Tucker will move from Steed to Pleasant Hill.

Wendy Eaton, principal at Midwest City Elementary, accepted a position in another school district.
