An employee with Mustang Public Schools resigned last week after the school district uncovered financial irregularities.
According to MPS, a staff member was placed on leave and eventually resigned late this past week after district internal financial controls uncovered irregularities which pointed to potential embezzlement.
Within hours of the discovery, district administration contacted law enforcement and auditors to initiate investigations on the matter. The investigation remains ongoing.
“We are disappointed and saddened by this alleged wrongdoing perpetrated by a longtime district employee, but we will fully cooperate with any/all investigations into the matter,” Superintendent Charles Bradley said in a prepared statement.
The district was not able to provide further information as of press time. Mustang Police Chief, Rob Groseclose, confirmed that there is an active investigation related to the embezzlement, but couldn’t share specifics.
The Mustang Times will continue monitoring the situation as the events unfold.
