Midwest City will have a new spot for smoothies and acai bowls.

The Surf Bar is opening a new location at 6825 SE 29th St. The Oklahoma-based company offers a variety of their signature acai bowls and smoothies made with all fresh ingredients.

Palmer Jones, the franchisee of the Surf Bar location, said he’s excited to bring the new concept to his hometown.

“I thought Midwest City would be a good central area due to the location, right next to the highway and well between our current Shawnee, Norman, and Chisholm Creek locations,” said Jones. “More importantly, we’ll be right next to Tinker Air Force Base. We carry a lot of respect for our military and are ready to serve the military community.”

The Surf Bar will be located in the former Billy Sims Burger building. The burger restaurant opened in October 2020 and closed earlier this summer. The building previously housed Johnnie’s Charcoal Express.

“A family friend helped us repaint the outside of the building, said Jones. “Right now, we are cleaning out the inside and getting the building equipped to serve our product. Next, we’ll begin our training process.”

The Surf Bar’s mission statement is to “Serve people intentionally and make God known through us.”

“We’d love to provide not only a great product but we keep the community in mind. We are a Christian-based company and aim to spread the gospel through our service,” said Jones, “Yes, we have our products, but we want to provide Midwest City another outlet to get to know Christ.”

The Surf Bar offers a range of acai bowls, smoothies, oatmeal, and bagels.

“Our fan-favorite would definitely have to be the Nu-Stella,” said Jones, “It’s our acai mix, stacked with blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and Nutella layered on top.”

The new business is expected to open in mid-August.

OMGoodness! This makes my heart ❤️ so very happy! I fell in Love with Acia in California ofc I immediately looked for one in Oklahoma! A FB friend told me to check out Normans Surf Bar, I did! Soon as I came home from Cali & I was in Love! Hooked! But….it’s so far away from Spencer USA! Listen the whole menu gets me excited & Now it’s much closer to home! So when’s the Grand Opening ! Our side definitely needs more healthy eating, restaurant options! Thank you! Can’t wait to frequent you! 🥰💛

We have visited The Surf Bar in Shawnee a few times. Always great food and service! But, due to the location and the fact that I work in MWC, we are unable to eat there more often. This resulted in me going to Sprouts and Target for smoothie products to make at home. (Blah) 😂 Do you know how expensive that was? Plus it wasn’t as yummy. Anyway, I’m looking forward to getting my smoothie bowls Mid-August at your new location!!
