Since 2016 Remnant Church, a non-denominational Christian Church located in Midwest City, has held a Back-to-School Community Outreach event, providing more than 1,200 backpacks with school supplies to young people across the greater Oklahoma City metropolitan area. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, starting at 10:00 a.m., at the Kiwanis Park South Pavilion located at 1101 South Midwest Blvd, Midwest City.
Remnant Church, along with their faithful ministry supporters and community partners/sponsors, including Ruffin Family Medicine, LLC, Destined to Win, LLC, and the family of Rosalind Dews (In Memory) will distribute 500 backpacks including essential school supplies such as paper, notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, crayons, glue, folders, and scissors free to the local community at the event.
“Young people and families in our community need basic school supplies and materials to engage in learning and acquire basic skills to develop academically and socially,” Remnant Church Co-Lead Pastor Anthony Herron said. “Purchasing school supplies and materials each year can be challenging for many families in our community.
The rising costs associated with inflation continue to show the community’s need for school supplies and resources for the 2022-2023 school year.
“Remnant Church looks forward to doing our part addressing these basic community needs for backpacks with basic school supplies,” Ashley Herron, co-lead pastor of Remnant Church.“We want to be a tangible blessing to families in our community.”School supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
Volunteers will meet to prepare backpacks and school supplies for the outreach on Wednesday July 20th at 7 PM at Remnant Church located at 10101 East Reno Avenue in Midwest City, Oklahoma 73130.
