Del Rancho serving Mustang over 20 years

The idea for the Del Rancho Steak Sandwich Supreme® began in 1961. Its founder, J.R. Holt, heard that to be successful in the restaurant business, you need at least one unique item on your menu, which only your restaurant offers.
Two years after opening his first restaurant, Mr. Holt had a vision for a variant of a hamburger. It would be a sandwich, a steak sandwich. A sandwich like no one else had ever seen. That day began a long experimental process that lasted three years. Finally, in 1964, it was complete, and Mr. Holt introduced his “masterpiece” menu item.
Cindy Reed, the owner of the Mustang Del Rancho, located at 462 West State Highway 152 in Mustang, is a community-minded business owner. Friday, she shared some of what makes Del Rancho special.
“We are known for the steak sandwich and the chicken sandwich,” Reed said. “That’s what we were founded on. Mr. Holt who founded the business is my boss’s grandpa. He had a dream about making that sandwich back in the late fifties, and it’s been around since then. It took a couple of years for them to work out the formula for the breading, because it is a mixture that is under lock and key. It is not a well-known recipe. He opened his first store in 1961. It’s in the third generation ownership. We have eight locations now.”
Del Rancho also offers many other options besides the chicken fried steak and chicken sandwiches. Some of the different kinds of burgers are the Hickory Burger, Chili Cheeseburger, Texas Burger, Chuck burger, and a lot more.
The menu also offers a Soup of the Day,  catfish dinner, multiple salad options, and sides like loaded french fries, homemade onion rings, homemade gravy, fried green beans, strawberry applesauce, and a lot more. There are plenty of low-carb and keto-friendly options too.
