Carl Albert’s softball team is staying ahead of the class in District 5A-2.
The Lady Titans racked up three more district wins last week, beating Duncan and sweeping a road doubleheader with Lawton MacArthur. They won the three games by a combined score of 48-5 and had a total of 43 hits.
“Our hitters are settling in and having great approaches at the plate,” said coach Dani Dobbs. “They are working hard to be intentional with their at bats. The team is working hard to get better through the season.”
On Aug. 16, Carl Albert topped Duncan 9-1.
The Rusche sisters didn’t go easy on the opposing pitcher as they combined for three hits and three RBIs. Bailey Rusche homered in the fourth inning, and Shelby Rusche had a pair of extra base hits.
Marissa Frolich was nearly perfect in the circle. The senior allowed one run on one hit and a walk. She also struck out six batters in five innings.
On Thursday, the Lady Titans traveled to Lawton for a twin bill with MacArthur. And they brought their offense with them. Carl Albert racked up 22 hits in a 26-3 win over the Highlanders in the first game.
Kaylee Davis and Frolich each homered in the game. Shelby Rusche went 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles. Taylor Charron was also 3 of 3 with a double and 3 RBIs. Frolich, Arianna Harmon, Londyn McNair and Bailey Rusche had two hits each.
Carl Albert broke the game open early with 10 runs in the first inning. Shelby Rusche put them on top with an RBI single and Frolich followed with a three-run blast.
Frolich earned the win in the circle. She allowed one earned run on one hit and one walk. Harmon pitched the final four innings and did not give up a run.
The Lady Titans finished off the evening with a 13-1 win in game two.
McNair led the way with three hits. Merrick Collier, Mariah Brown and Kyli Reser had two hits apiece against MacArthur.
Haylee Ringwald earned the victory with a solid outing. She allowed one run on one hit and two walks.
