BC Softball falls to Noble at home
By Joseph Ross
Coming off a defeat the night before, the Lady Bobcats set their sights on the Noble Lady Bears as they matched up on Aug 19.
A couple of runs scored to start things off for the Lady Bears as they reeled in a pair of singles and RBI singles to go ahead 2-0.
Bridge Creek was able to run on the board due to a base hit, stolen base, and an RBI single making the score 2-1 at the end of the first inning.
With the Lady Bears’ lead remaining at 2-1, they had no hesitation to make it a more significant deficit for the Lady Bobcats. Three singles, two RBI singles, and a two-run RBI triple committed by Noble to give them a 7-1 lead going into the bottom of the second.
Despite having the bases loaded for the Lady Bobcats, Noble was able to calm the storm establishing a ground out to third base after forcing a couple more fly outs to the score still at 7-1 ending the second inning.
Following Bridge Creek holding Noble scoreless in the third inning, they find a way to insert a run for themselves with a single, walk, and an RBI single to conclude the third inning with the Lady Bears leading 7-2.
Sadly for Bridge Creek, Noble once again found rhythm hitting the baseball, creating two walks, a double, RBI double, and a two-run single to push the lead to 10-2.
The score did not change as Noble kept Bridge Creek hitless at the bottom of the fourth.
In the fifth inning with the Lady Bears on top 10-2, Noble designed a pair of hits to get runners on first and third base and was able to capture another run due to a wild pitch by Bridge Creek which enabled a Lady Bear runner to steal home and secure the 11-2 lead.
Bridge Creek designed a couple of runs by hitting a single and a double to go along with an RBI single, and a stolen base to home to put the score at 11-4 with Noble still ahead.
The sixth inning begins with the Lady Bobcats catching fire from the plate with a triple and two RBI singles directly after forcing Noble to a scoreless inning with a groundout to third base, fly out to centerfield, and a strikeout. Bridge Creek ended the game with six strikeouts while Noble only had three. That cut the score to 11-6 going into the seventh and final inning of the evening.
Noble was able to extend the lead to 13-6 smashing a two-run single.
Unfortunately, the Lady Bobcats did not mustard up enough runs and were defeated by the Lady Bears 13-6.
