Despite recent rains, Choctaw’s Lady Yellowjackets have managed to get in some big wins.

Tuesday Choctaw’s fastpitch squad downed Union, 8-2.

Choctaw High School held a 5-2 lead over the visitors from Tulsa after four innings.

Then Choctaw notched three runs in the fifth inning. Abby Schmitz, Anna Malaske, and Saige Bacon powered the big inning with RBIs.

That was good enough for CHS to hold on for the win. Choctaw outhit Union 11-4.

Schmitz went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Choctaw’s offense.

Dakota Frizzell earned the victory on the mound. She lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out ten.

Anna Malaske, Jaylynn Freer and Kyndal Haithcock each rounded home twice, while Bre Curry and Schmitz also scored a run.

The win put Choctaw at 12-2 on the year with an 8-game win streak.

A recent game with Norman North was postponed, and a contest with Enid was rained out as well.

The Lady Jackets have recorded recent shutouts over Del City (23-0) and Muskogee (11-0).

Choctaw currently sits atop District 6A-4 with a perfect 6-0 record.

Broken Arrow (15-5, 5-1) is second, Norman North (10-5, 6-2) is sitting in third, and Owasso (16-5, 5-2) is currently fourth.

Other district leaders in Class 6A include Jenks (13-2, 8-0), Edmond Memorial (9-2, 4-0), and Mustang (11-4, 6-0).

CHS is set to host Owasso Sept. 8 and Broken Arrow Sept. 12.

The Del City Eagles will visit CHS Sept. 20.
