It took a little extra work.

But the Carl Albert softball team made their way back to the Class 5A state tournament.

The Lady Titans rallied to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 4-3 win over El Reno last Thursday in the regional championship.

El Reno scored three runs with two outs in the top of the seventh to take the lead. Kira Taber tied the game with a two-run single. Ana Ashford followed with a single to left, giving El Reno a 3-2 lead.
Carl Albert wrestled back control in the bottom of the inning. Bella Brown scored on a passed ball to tie the game. Merrick Collier drove in the winning run with a groundout to score Londyn McNair.

The state tournament is scheduled for Oct. 13-15 at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. The Titans face Pryor at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the first round.
Carl Albert took down Capitol Hill and El Reno on the first day of the regional.

In game one, the Lady Titans blanked Capitol Hill 8-0. Brenna Choate was 1 for 3 with a triple and 3 RBIs. Ausha Moore doubled and drove in two runs.
Marissa Frolich earned the win in the circle.

In game two, Carl Albert overcame a slow start to beat El Reno 11-1.
Moore broke a tie score with a two-run homer to left in the bottom of the third. The Lady Titans pushed five more runs across the plate in the fourth. Kyla Davenport hit a two-run single to make it an 8-1 lead.

In the fifth, Bailey and Shelby Rusche both hit an RBI double, and Kaylee Davis singled in a run.

On Thursday, El Reno beat Ardmore in an elimination game to advance to the finals against Carl Albert. The Lady Indians would have needed to beat Carl Albert twice to win the regional title.

Carl Albert has qualified for state for 14 years in a row.

Del City and Midwest City competed in the 6A regional last week. Both teams came up short with a pair of losses.

The Eagles lost their first two games at the Jenks regional on Oct. 5. They lost to Jenks 21-0 and Bartlesville 21-0. Ava Vara and Ryen Gaddis had hits in the regional.

Midwest City came up short in the Edmond Memorial regional. They lost their first game to the host Bulldogs 16-2. Nayani Brown scored both runs for the Bombers. Midwest City was then eliminated following an 11-1 setback against Edmond Santa Fe. Brown also scored the team’s only run in the loss.
