MUSTANG – In Regional Qualifying Saturday, the Carl Albert Titans had five runners qualify for the 2022 OSSAA State Cross Championships Saturday at Edmond Santa Fe High School.
Lady Titans Kaley Plouff and McKenna Barnard will compete in the Class 5A state meet along with Joshua Robinson for the boys. All trio gained at-large berths when both Titan teams barely missed the automatic qualifying No. 7 spot.

“We are disappointed we didn’t qualify as a team our senior year, but it’s a relief that we qualified together,” Barnard said.

Plouff and Barnard have qualified for state all four years.

“Running in the wind was a little tough, but we really pushed each other together,” Plouff said.

The OSSAA State Championships for all classes will be hosted by Edmond Santa Fe with Class 5A kicking off the action with a coaches meeting at 9:45 a.m., followed by the Girls race at 10:15 a.m. and the boys race at 11 a.m.

The awards ceremony for both classes will begin at 11:45 a.m.
OSSAA trophies will go to the winner and runner-up in each division and first place team will receive 7 individual gold medals, second place 7 individual silver medals and third place team 7 individual bronze medals.

Individual medals will be distributed to gold for top 5, silver for next 5 and bronze for 11-15 finishers.
Plouff finished No. 17 for the Lady Titans in a time of 22:43.89 followed by No. 20 Mckenna Barnard in 22:49.01 and No. 33 Ashlee Davison in 23:31.15. Next was Skylar Anderson in 24:57.25 and Lilly Ross in 24:59.09.
