Students showcase skills at Welders’ Rodeo

Carl Albert FFA hosts eighth annual welding competition

 

Carl Albert High School’s FFA program hosted their eighth annual Welders’ Rodeo competition last Friday.

 

Students competed in teams of six to make a 5-foot-by10-foot trailer. They had five hours to complete the welding project.

 

A total of 16 schools from Oklahoma and one from Arkansas competed in the event. Canute won the competition followed by second place Strother and Siloam Springs in third. Carl Albert’s team included Gatlin Walworth, Zoe Cosgrove, Allie Braun, Ann Cunningham, Rylee Reese, Cameron Sims and Journey Blackwell.

 

The event was sponsored by Lincoln Electric, J&I Manufacturing, and Industrial Tool and Weld Supply which donated prizes. The judges were Kenny Leatherwood and Brad Corn.
