Midwest City tops Ponca City on senior night

The last week of the regular season was up and down for the Midwest City basketball teams.

The teams swept Ponca City Feb. 14 for senior night but both came up short at Putnam City West on Friday night in the regular season finale.

Senior Myracle Washington made sure her final regular season home game was special as she put up 18 points in a 61-52 victory against Ponca City.  De’Yanna Douglas added 12 points in the win.

 

The Lady Bombers got off to a slow start Friday night against Putnam City West and never recovered in a 72-54 loss.

 

Putnam City West led 28-19 at halftime and tallied 44 points in the second half for the win at home.

 

Saliyah Landon was the leading scorer for Midwest City with 20 points and Washington added 12.

 

Senior Quentin Burgess hit six 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead the Bombers past Ponca City 81-72 on senior night. Roy Henderson Jr. finished with a game-high 20 points in the win.

Things didn’t go the Bombers way Friday night as they fell to the Patriots 83-52.

Midwest City girls will host a Class 6A Regional tournament Thursday and Saturday. The Lady Bombers take on U.S. Grant at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, with the winner meeting Yukon or Putnam City in the regional final at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The boys travel to Edmond North to face the top-ranked Huskies at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The winner will face Edmond Memorial or Mustang in the regional finals on Saturday.
