Carl Albert’s soccer teams flexed their muscles last week at the Titans Championships.
The boys and girls went undefeated to win their respective tournaments.
The Titans beat Capitol Hill and Lawton Eisenhower on Thursday, winning both games in a shootout.
In the first match against Capitol Hill, freshman Kalem Gonzalez scored on a free kick to even the score at 1-1. The Titans pulled out the win in a shootout, winning 4-3.
Carl Albert’s boys played well against Eisenhower in the second game but couldn’t score in regulation. In the shootout, Maddox Wilkerson made a key save and Billy McDown delivered the winning kick for the 6-5 shootout win.
“We pretty much dominated this game but couldn’t score a goal but got it done in PKs,” said coach Levi Karnes.
Offense was more abundant in the girls’ games on Friday.
Carl Albert swept Capitol Hill, Lawton MacArthur and Lawton Eisenhower to win the Titans Championship.
Kayden Murphy led the way with five goals during the three-day event.
The Titans opened with a 6-0 win over Capitol Hill. Murphy, Ashlee Davison and Sarah Horbrecht each scored twice in the win.
Carl Albert held off MacArthur 2-1 in the second game of the day.
Murphy scored late in the first half and Kaden Hawkins added a second goal with 23 minutes left for a 2-0 lead. The Highlanders got on the board with 3:30 left, but the Titans held on for the 2-1 victory.
