Midwest City basketball players earn conference awards

Midwest City’s basketball teams had several players selected for the Oklahoma 7 Conference awards.

For the girls, Saliyah Landon was named the co-Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-Conference. She shared Newcomer of the Year with Kate Davis of Choctaw.

De’Yanna Douglas joined Landon on the first team. Myracle Washington was a Third Team selection. And Mya Brown, Jya Barksdale, Sierra Martin and Markia Pratt were honorable mention.

Caya Smith, of Putnam City West, was named the Oklahoma 7 Conference’s Most Valuable Player. Davis was the Offensive Player of the Year, and Shamar Bert (Putnam City West) and Aliyah Duval (Choctaw) shared Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Choctaw’s Ryan Maloney was named Coach of the Year.

For the boys, Deshawn Denon II was named the Freshman of the Year. Roy Henderson Jr. was selected to the Third Team, and Quentin Burgess was honorable mention for the Bombers.

Putnam City North’s Zander Baker was named the Player of the Year. Chiante’ Tramble (Putnam City West) was the Offensive Player of the Year, and Anthony Leonard (Putnam City North) and Jordan Warrior (Putnam City West) were co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Corry Smith Jr. (Putnam City North) was Newcomer of the Year. And Ryan Wagner (Putnam City North) earned Coach of the Year honors.

The All-Conference First Team included Smith, Tramble, Kaidon Rayfield (Putnam City West), Camren Hunt (Choctaw) and Ja’Mon Valentine (Choctaw).
