The Midwest City Police Explorers program recognized one of their biggest supporters.

Lt. Scott Dawson and members of the Explorers program presented Top Tier Tactical and owner Ted Nugent with a plaque thanking them for their continued support.

The Explorers program provides young adults with an opportunity to learn about law enforcement including operations and procedures. The youth, age 14 and up, often work alongside officers during public events.

Dawson said the local business has supported the program by offering discounts for uniforms and equipment and donations for competitions.

Nugent said he is happy to help promote the program.

“I think this is one of the best programs out there,” he said. “There aren’t a lot of programs out there for youths like this. And the police have a hard time recruiting officers, so this gives them a good idea if they want to do it. Hopefully it gets even bigger.”
