Midwest City holding town hall meetings on sales tax election
The City of Midwest City will host town hall meetings about an upcoming sales tax vote.
The meetings will be held Aug. 29 and 31 at City Council Chambers, 100 N. Midwest Blvd. Both meetings will begin at 6 p.m.
City leaders are asking voters to extend the current .4015% of a cent sales tax. The proposal would not increase the current sales tax rate of 9.1%. If approved, the funds will be used for capital improvement projects and maintenance and upgrades of city parks.
The sales tax special election is Sept. 12
The sales tax was originally approved by voters in November 2011 to fund the renovation and upgrades of the city’s wastewater treatment plant.
