A search party for a missing woman ended after they found skeletal remains in southeast Oklahoma City.

On Sept. 10, Oklahoma City police were called to SE 59th St. and S. Westminster Rd. after volunteers reported finding the human remains in a heavily wooded area, south of Midwest City.

Authorities said the remains were identified as 62-year-old Shari Kimbrough who had been reported missing since May. The remains were found nearly a mile away from where she went missing.

Kimbrough suffered a brain injury and had periods of confusion and memory loss, according to a family member.

The Midwest City Police Department handled the case. Detective Wade Ramsey said they followed up on a tip that

Kimbrough had been seen near I-40 and Sooner Rd. but they were unable to find her.

The Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating to determine the manner of death.
