CA’s Davison, Wagner run to all-conference honors

The Carl Albert Lady Titans took second place and the CA JV girls ran to the championship of the annual Suburban Conference Cross Country Meet hosted by Carl Albert on Friday.
The Del City Eagles also competed in the Conference meet.
The CA girls had four medal winners topped by Ashlee Davison in a time of 22:29.32 for the No. 7 spot followed by No. 9 Nicole Collins 22:52.82, No. 12 Layla Straka in 2:29.34 and No. 13 Sara Hobrecht in 23:3.45 and No. 16 Kaitlyn Allen in 224:20.51.
Davison, who missed the last two weeks with a knee injury, earned all-conference honors by placing in the top 10.
“It feels like this season has been going by really slow, but getting top 10 is a big confidence booster,” Davison said. “The cooler weather made it feel a lot better today.”
Displacers were Abigal Nolen and Kiunna Shaw.
The JV girls took the top 5 medals led by Kamden Hawkins in 26:03.59 in the No. 1 slot, No. 2 Brianne Galindo in 25:99.44 and No. 3 Nakaya Frost in 27:31.46.Tamia Swindell ran a 27:55.887 for fourth and the No. 5 slot was claimed by Delilah McBride in 28:03.27. Displacers were Maribel Galindo and Serenitee Harris.
Koen Wagner placed fourth in the varsity boys division with a time of 18:16.34 while Carter Reece also won a No. 15 medal in 19:53.23 as the Titans were third behindGuthrie and Noble.
Wagner earned all-conference honors in just his second season of running.
“It feels great to get all-conference. This is my second year of running and I’m surprised that I’ve been able to do this well. I think it’s mainly because I had Josh (Robinson) last year who was kind of training me up,” Wagner said.
The junior said he felt comfortable in the conference meet.
“This was the first time that I’ve been able to shut down my mind and focus on the race itself,” he said.
Samuel Blough (19:51.17), Ira Bell (20:25/28) and Kaiden Harrison (20:34.67) teamed with displacers Toby Phillips and Riley McMahon.
The Titan JV boys were second to Guthrie and all five runners earned medals in the 5K race led by No. 4 Solomon Bowen in 19:50.51. Other medal winners were No. 7 Ethan Luong in 20:34/62, No. 8 Killiam Smith in 20:47.52, No. 9 Shane McLung in 20:51.36 and No. 14 Joseph Robinson in 21:12,85 with Kian Florenda and Joseph Robinson the displacers.
Also running for CA were Ethan Darnell, Israel Johnson, Kiirbyn Burieye, Trey Rhoades and Antonio Melandez-Cazarez.
FOR DEL CITY, Denice Puckett took a fifth place medal with a time of 27:00.47 and was joined on the JV squad by the Sanches-Cutliff girls, Niya and Laquaveonna.
For the Eagles, Tyler Means led the way with a time of 20:21.26 in the No. 20 spot followed by No. 21 Evan Colbert in 20:23.27, No. 30 Alfredo Carrion in 20:56.36, Eli
Chavez in 21:21.35, Emmanuel Amador-Rosalez in 21:2.40 and Kalin Kearney in 22:25.53.
For the Eagles JV, Francisco Valesco-Moreno won a No. 9 medal for his time of
20:44.22. Others included Dominic Moio in 21:33.54, Luis Lara in 23:12.71, Camden
Ross in 23:19.64 and Shekinah Marshall Thomas in 23:43.45 with displacers Bryan Flores and Myron Chaj Rodes.
Others running for the Eagles included Kyree Tucker, Isaac Smith, Emilio Hernandez, Juan Armadez, Ethan Rashawn and Angel Zaguirre.
