Led by a strong performance from Carol Le, the Mustang girls Cross Country team placed 10th at the COAC conference meet last week at Deer Creek.

Le ran a 19:45 over the 5K course. That was good enough to take 24th overall. According to coach Mike McGarry the 19:45 beat her previous best time by 20 seconds.

Along with Le, the Broncos had one other runner who placed inside the top 50. Kendall Howel finished in 5oth place with a time of 21:06.8.

Edmond North won the girls COAC championship with 53 points. They were led by Morgan Kirkland, who finished in first with a time of 17:30.9.

Piedmont, Deer Creek, Edmond Memorial and Norman High rounded out the top five teams.

The MHS girls will now prepare to host the 6A West Regional, which is being held Saturday at Wildhorse Park. The 6A girls will run at 9 a.m. while 5A is scheduled to race at 11 a.m.

The top qualifiers from each regional will advance to the state cross-country meet Oct. 28 at Edmond Santa Fe.
