Midwest City’s volleyball team was one win away from the state tournament.

The Lady Bombers beat Altus in the first round of regionals but came up short against Booker T. Washington in the regional finals on Oct. 9.

“I honestly couldn’t have been prouder of the girls at the regional tournament yesterday,” said coach Matti Dix. “They have had a heck of a season this year and I cannot wait to see how we do next year. Booker T. Washington has a great team and I wish them all the luck at the state tournament.”

It was the first time Midwest City had reached a regional final since 2014.

Midwest City beat Altus 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 26-24). Trinatti Allen led the team in kills (7) and blocks (11). Misell Wagner had six kills. Kyah Jackson had 20 assists and Laila Stewart and Tori Sanchez had 38 and 24 digs, respectively.

But their state tournament bid ended with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-8, 25-5) loss to host Booker T. Washington in the regional finals.

Allen had three blocks and Wagner added three kills in the loss.
