The Tuttle Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #197 is now accepting applications for its annual Cops & Kids Christmas program.
All participating children MUST live within Tuttle city limits or attend Tuttle Public Schools.
The application may be completed online using a Google Docs form that can be found in a public post by Tuttle FOP member Shana Berryhill on Facebook.
The document can also be printed off and returned to the Tuttle Police Department, located at 410 West Bond Street.
Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29. A committee will review the applications and make recommendations on the evening of November 30.
Families that meet the criteria will then be selected.
Selected families will be notified by phone or email following selection.
Police ask that nobody contact the police department to check the status of an application.
Please make sure all contact information is correct and accurate so the FOP can appropriately notify families of their selection status.
After the selection is made, each child in the family will have the opportunity to provide a wish list.
Items will be purchased by the FOP, and a group of police officers will deliver the gifts to the children on Wednesday, December 20th.
The police said in their notification, “The selection committee anticipates receiving more applications from families than we can accommodate. Please be as detailed as possible with your answers to help the committee make their decision. Please fill out the form and all of its questions accurately and thoroughly. Incomplete applications will not be considered for selection. Please note, children ages 16 and older will not be considered.”
Tuttle PD will continue its annual No Shave November fundraiser, in which police officers donate $50 to participate. Proceeds will go to Tuttle Special Olympics.
When the officers award the money, they traditionally play basketball with the athletes.
