Mid-Del swimmers made a couple of trips to the Tulsa area last week.

They traveled to Bartlesville on Nov. 14 and Booker T. Washington last Thursday for a couple of meets.

“These last two meets at Bartlesville and Booker T. were two great tests of our team’s ability to respond to a strenuous travel schedule, as well as their ability to perform in some high intensity 6A home meet environments,” said coach Josh Norman. “Both of those schools have long standing traditions of excellence in swim and are each are known for having great home pool environments. It was great for our teams to experience those environments and still perform well even though they were fighting off fatigue from the week as well.”

The teams responded by setting 55 personal records while finding just as many ways to improve as a team, Norman said.

In the Bartlesville meet, Carl Albert’s boys shined in the relays, placing second in all three races.
Mason Corey, Evan Wilcox, Jackson Bales and Andrew Campbell were runners-up in the 200 medley relay in 1:51.88.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Ben Sutterfield, Bales, Owen Ramirez and Shane McClung finished second with a time of 1:36.71, while the B team of Maddox Bartlett, Kaleb Smith, Evan Wilcox and Campbell were third. Ridge Thornton, Bartlett, Ramirez and McClung closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay.

The Titans dominated the individual 50 freestyle with five of the top six places. Sutterfield led the team with a second-place finish in 24.07 seconds. He was followed by Campbell (25.03), Bales (25.13), Wilcox (26.65) and Corbin Williams (26.83).

Wilcox also placed third in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.72).

Fourth-place finishers included Bartlett (200 freestyle), Lorenz (200 IM, 500 freestyle), Sutterfield (100 backstroke), McClung (100 freestyle), and Corey (100 backstroke).

Everett Ryan (200 freestyle), Thornton (100 butterfly), Ramirez (100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke) each placed fifth.

For the girls, Charlotte Peters paced the Lady Titans with a fourth-place finish in the 200 IM (2:31.74).

Carl Albert’s girls earned fourth in the 200 freestyle relay with Brenlee Lam, Donna Antonelli, Hailey Hunt and Brooklyn Jones stopping the clock at 2:01.35. The 400 freestyle relay team of Journey Blackwell, Helen Hammond, Hunt and Peters took fifth.

Antonelli and Hammond also finished sixth individually in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke, respectively.
