Midwest City’s boys basketball team had ups and downs last week at the Edmond Open.

The Bombers dropped a couple of close games against Edmond Santa Fe and Edmond Memorial before finishing off the weekend with a win over the OKC Storm.

Midwest City beat the Storm 79-66 Saturday in the consolation finals.

Carl’Sheon Young led the team with 25 points. Deshawn Denson finished with 19 points and Roy Henderson Jr. had 14.

The Bombers led 38-31 at halftime. They continued to stretch the margin in the second half. Young scored 13 of his points in the third quarter.

Midwest City opened the tournament Thursday night against Edmond Santa Fe. The Bombers led by double digits in the third quarter but saw the Wolves storm back for a 53-49 win.
Santa Fe finished the third quarter on a 17-2 run and led 38-36 heading to the fourth. Midwest City rallied late in the fourth and cut the deficit to three on an offensive putback by Henderson. But the

Bombers struggled to hit shots in the final minute.

It was a similar story Friday night in 54-48 loss to Memorial.

The Bombers started hot but were held to single digit scoring in the second and fourth quarters.

Young led the team with 17 points and Denson added nine.

Midwest City bounced back to beat the OKC Storm to close out the Edmond Open.

It was the team’s second win of the week. They beat Santa Fe South 95-47 on Dec. 5 in district play. Henderson scored a game-high 25 points and Young had 19 in the win.

The Bombers traveled to John Marshall on Tuesday and will host their rival Del City on Friday night.
