The Mid-Del Tech Business Development and Training Center looks a little different these days.
The Del City facility recently underwent an extensive remodel project.
“We’re very happy with it and the feedback that we’ve received has been very positive,” said Blake McCrabb, executive director of workforce development. “The companies and clients really like it.
Employees showed off the improvements last week during an open house event on Dec. 5.
The project included changes to the meeting rooms, office space, restrooms, kitchen area, as well as new flooring and paint throughout the building.
The $660,000 project was paid through the MDTC’s building fund.
The office area was reconfigured to provide a more open area for guests. The kitchen, located behind the reception area, was completely redesigned. The area features ice and water machines, a bar area and comfortable seating. The space can be used for groups to take breaks or eat.
“This gives our clients a more relaxed space for breaks and gives them space to network,” McCrabb said.
Meeting rooms were also remodeled with updated technology and designs. A temporary room divider was replaced with a permanent wall to provide more soundproof spaces. The conference rooms have new smart boards, additional flat screens, and capability to conduct Zoom meetings.
Each of the rooms has been named after military aircraft – Raptor (F-22), Eagle (F-15) and Lancer (B-1).
The new flooring, finishes and color schemes match the Mid-Del Technology Center’s main campus. The building also underwent a major renovation project that was finished in early 2022.
“This building was originally a doctor’s office so we wanted to make a layout that was more client-friendly,” McCrabb said.
Construction started in January and was completed in late September. During that time, McCrabb said they were still able to host some classes in a separate building behind the facility as well as at the MDTC main campus and onsite for clients.
