Carl Albert’s wrestlers opened the dual season last Thursday with a 52-17 win at Shawnee.

The Titans won 10 of the 11 contested matches.

“It was a good start to our dual season for sure,” said coach Curt Hodges. “I liked the way we wrestled from start to finish. The guys were aggressive and that’s what we want from them.”
Brayden Mixay, Braden Anderson, Paxton Pogue, Caden Longstreet, Joe Thomas and Cruz Young each earned falls. Cash Wiley and Kase Miller both won by technical fall.

Mason Williams and Layton Leavitt earned decisions.

“I was really proud of Mason Williams at 138, he fought back to tie the match with a late takedown and then got another one in overtime to win a hard-fought match,” Hodges said.

On Saturday, Carl Albert’s girls competed in the Wrestle Like a Girl Tournament at Cache High School. Juel Ross pinned her way to the 110-pound title. She earned four falls in the tournament. Ariana Lopez also competed and went 1-2.

Del City’s Sorrell Hurd took first place at 235. She earned three straight pins for the title. Sophia Jackson took second at 117 for Del City Middle School.
The Titans wrestled Newcastle on Tuesday and will head to Norman North on Thursday.
