A Midwest City man was arrested last week after leading police on a chase in a stolen vehicle last Thursday morning in Midwest City, police said.
According to an affidavit, about 8:25 a.m., officers were dispatched to 9213 NE 10th St. about a stolen vehicle. An employee said someone had stolen a business van.
Police said they located the stolen van near the intersection of Shadybrook Dr. and W. Shadywood Dr. but the driver would not pull over. Other officers found the vehicle stopped in traffic near NE 10th St. and N. Air Depot Blvd. An officer tried to conduct a felony stop on the vehicle, but the driver put the vehicle in reverse and struck the patrol vehicle, and drove away north on Air Depot Blvd.
An officer was inside the patrol vehicle at the time of the crash, according to the report.
The suspect drove past NE 23rd St. to where N. Air Depot Blvd. dead ends. The driver turned around and headed south on Air Depot before driving into a ditch in the 2500 block, the report said.
Officers had the suspect at gunpoint when he got out of the van and surrendered.
The suspect was identified as 26-year-old Isiah Malique Wright. The man was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of larceny of a motor vehicle, eluding a police officer, assault and battery on a police officer, unlawful possession of paraphernalia, and failure to give info and render aid at vehicle accident.
Wright has been arrested by Midwest City police in November for larceny of an automobile, in September for second degree burglary and in August for breaking and entering.
