OKLAHOMA CITY – The Carl Albert girls saw their nine-game winning streak end last week with a loss at Shawnee on Jan. 9.

But it didn’t take long for them to get back in the win column, as they beat Western Heights 73-16 Friday night on the road.

The Lady Titans had 13 players score in the district win. Audrey Plunkett led all scorers with 12 points and Ausha Moore finished with 11.

“We really just tried to take this game in stride, run a couple of our sets and try to get comfortable again after that hard loss,” Moore said.

Coach Kyle Richey said his team had good practices following the 43-35 loss to Shawnee.

“I thought this game was about us. Sometimes we really focus on other people, and we really focused on us these last two days,” Richey said. “It was a good team effort tonight and nice to get everyone in. Everyone was cheering for each other.”

The loss against Shawnee dropped Carl Albert (10-2, 4-2 District 5A-1) to fourth place in the district. They will still host El Reno (12-0, 6-0) and Shawnee (8-4, 5-1) and travel to Elgin (8-4, 5-2).

“We have no room for error to try and hold onto that two seed in the district and host,” Richey said.

Carl Albert’s girls will host the Titan Classic this week.
