Midwest City’s girls basketball team moved into first place in District 5A-2 Friday night with a 53-40 win at Lawton MacArthur.

Mar’Kia Pratt scored 21 points and De’Yanna Douglas finished with nine points and 19 rebounds in the win. Midwest City had 19 offensive rebounds and 13 assists as a team.

Midwest City and MacArthur entered the game undefeated in district play. The Lady Bombers improved to 10-1 overall and 5-0 in district play and have won seven straight games. MacArthur (7-3, 6-1) beat Del City in overtime earlier in the week and dropped to second with the loss.

The Lady Bombers led by five points at halftime before pulling away in the third. Pratt scored eight points and Douglas added a conventional three-point lead in the third as Midwest City went up double digits at 40-29.

MacArthur charged back in the fourth but couldn’t close the deficit.

Midwest City was scheduled to host Guymon last Tuesday, but the game was postponed due to weather. Next up, they will host Noble on Jan. 23.
