Tuesday, Feb. 13 is election day in Midwest City.
The city will be holding a primary election for City Council Ward 3, 4 and 6.
Councilmembers for wards 4 and 6 will serve a four-year term. The election for Ward 3 will be for the remainder of an unexpired term.
Incumbent Ward 2 Councilman Pat Byrne ran unopposed and will receive a new four-year term. Byrne has represented the district since 2016.
In Ward 3, AJ Bailey, Espaniola Bowen, Rita Maxwell, Raymond Melton, Jeff Moore and Janice Swartz have all filed for the open seat.
Megan Bain was elected to the seat in February 2022 and resigned in June. Former councilman Rick Dawkins was appointed to serve in the interim.
Three candidates are in the running for Ward 4 with Marc Thompson, Nicholas Timme and Charles Wallace filing for the race.
In Ward 6, incumbent Rick Favors will face challenger William Bridges.
Polls will be open on election day from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
A general election, if needed, is scheduled for April 2. A candidate can win the seat outright in the primary with more than 50% of the vote. If no candidate hits the threshold, the top two vote-getters will advance to the general election.
