Midwest City residents will soon have a new spot for homestyle breakfast and lunch. Granny’s Kitchen, a popular Oklahoma-based restaurant, is opening a new location at 433 Planet Ct., near Tinker Diagonal and SE 29th St.
The family-style restaurant is known for its hearty breakfasts, chicken-fried steak, fluffy pancakes, and friendly service.
Granny’s Kitchen has been expanding in recent years. The Midwest City location, which was a former On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina, was a natural choice.
“We’re particularly excited about the Midwest City location and think it’s going to do very well,” said David Ingalls, with Granny’s Kitchen.
Renovations are underway at the new restaurant, with plans to open later this month. The location will serve breakfast and lunch daily, with a menu featuring both traditional favorites and seasonal specials.
It is expected to have about 30 employees.
Granny’s Kitchen started in Stillwater as a breakfast and burger restaurant. The restaurant closed for a few years after the original owners retired. Mohammad Mahmoud purchased the Granny’s Kitchen concept in 2014 and has seen it grow.
Mahmoud and Alex Sbeity are the franchisees for the Midwest City restaurant.
Granny’s Kitchen describes itself as “a culinary haven where every meal is crafted with love and tradition.” The restaurant says its mission is to combine “hearty homestyle breakfast and lunch” with “unparalleled hospitality.”
“We really lean into the Southern comfort food,” Ingalls said. “When you’re giving us money, we’re going to give you more portions, bigger portions than any of our competitors.”
Their full-service menu features a delightful array of breakfast classics, prepared with the freshest ingredients and served with a generous dose of Southern charm. Lunch options include burgers, sandwiches, or signature entrées such as pot roast and country fried steak.
The restaurant also highlights its brunch offerings, including benedicts, crepes, or fresh cinnamon rolls, along with mimosas, specialty Bloody Marys, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and coffee.
Granny’s is also opening a location in Yukon this year. The company currently has four locations: Stillwater, Oklahoma City (Northwest Expressway, S. Pennsylvania Ave., Memorial Rd.).

Alex Sbeity opened 4 Denny’s franchises here in Pensacola and had ran them into the ground. None of the Denny’s employees have been paid. Mr. Sbeity is now claiming to be bringing Granny’s Kitchen to Pensacola. Should someone not shed light on the fact that he hasn’t paid employees of four restaurants in 2 weeks?
I’ll second the statement above. My friend hasn’t received a paycheck on time since September and had only received part of her pay when the Denny’s shut down with no warning a few weeks ago. No one heard anything from Alex, the checks stopped arriving and some of those that did arrive, bounced.
6 months later and history repeats itself LOL. The new location is closed and employees not being paid. In the news here in Midwest City Oklahoma
Shine your light sir. It is happening again at these locations
What’s crazy to me is everyone just blames the dude up front without looking into the root of the problem. What about the other partner in both the denny’s and granny’s situations are really good friends and both failed to uphold their ends of the agreement. This man just trying to make an honest living hand to God and people come and take advantage of his trust. Sad to see an American Businessman being torn apart like this.
