Minco Track Competes at Skordle Relays

The Minco boys and girls track teams competed at the Skordle Relays in Cashion, a meet that featured several larger schools and teams from across the state.

For the boys, freshman Mason Duvall led the way with a third-place finish in the 3200-meter run and a fifth-place finish in the 1600-meter run. He was also part of the 4×800-meter relay team, along with Luke Biggs, Ryder Garrison, and Andrew Dennis, which placed ninth.

Senior Taylor Truelove finished ninth in the 100-meter dash and was a member of two relay teams. The 4×100-meter relay team of Truelove, Kaleb Newhouse, Tucker Wilson, and Jagr Addington placed 13th, while the 4×200-meter relay team of Truelove, Newhouse, Marco Schutten, and Jurney Mercado finished ninth.

Schutten added an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter dash. The 4×400-meter relay team of Newhouse, Schutten, Wilson, and Dennis placed 12th.

In field events, Mercado placed 13th in the high jump, while freshman Denver Ford finished 16th. Freshman Roman McMurtrey added a 16th-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles.

On the girls side, senior Trinity Wright competed in three events, placing 20th in the 100-meter dash, 15th in the 200-meter dash, and 14th in the 400-meter dash.

Avery Teel finished 11th in the 800-meter run, and Mayia Briscoe placed 12th in the high jump.

 

Regionals

Regional track meet assignments were recently released by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association. The Minco track teams will travel to Cashion on May 2 to compete against 20 other schools for a chance to advance to the State Track Meet, which will be held May 8–9.
