Residents along Silver Drive will have to maneuver around road work the next couple of weeks.
On Monday, the City began a concrete replacement project on the road by tearing up the old concrete near the intersection of W. State Highway 152.
“The process will involve removing the old concrete paving, base and installing new concrete paving on the roadway,” said Dale Simpson of Silver Star Construction, the city’s road maintenance contractor. “The work will be staged in halves with the roadway being closed as each side is removed and replaced. Please be aware of the ongoing work and obey the traffic signs as the work progresses.”
Simpson said the normal work hours for the project will be from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays.
“Please be very cautious of the large machinery while the road is under construction, and be aware that there will be a five-day period when your drive will be closed and you will need to park outside the work zone,” he said. “We are asking residents to please be understanding when your neighbors park on the street in front of your house during the temporary closure of access to their driveway. You may want to plan extra time in your day for these delays for the next few weeks.”
Simpson also asked drivers to be patient with work crews.
“After all, it is our goal to do good work as quickly as possible and to keep you informed along the way,” he said. “Safety is always a priority. Please help us by honoring our road closed barricades and don’t allow children to play on or around the construction equipment after work hours.”
