Okie Print Barn a local, low-cost option
Matt and Veronica Anderson started Okie Print Barn out of their garage five years ago, and decided to go brick-and-mortar a year ago. Okie Print Barn is currently located in Mustang at 633 E State Hwy 152.
“We pride ourselves on our customer service,” Matt said Monday. “One of the things that a lot of people take for granted nowadays is that we’re local to Mustang. We print in-house. We don’t outsource our printing for t-shirts, we do embroidery in-house. We don’t outsource that. A lot of that custom apparel is all done in-house right here. You can even watch us do it. You can see us in the front end doing it. We really have a great, dedicated team. We have a dedicated graphic artist on-hand. We don’t outsource any of that. It’s all right here and we don’t have to ship it out. It keeps our costs low, which keeps costs low for the customer.”
Matt worked as a full-time sound engineer for the OKC Civic Center, but COVID and other considerations led the Andersons to go all-in with Okie Print Barn.
“It was an awesome gig,” Anderson said of sound engineering, “but with COVID and shows shutting down, we needed some other outlet. I was also working with shows from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. sometimes, just constantly going, and I have kids and a family I want to be home to spend time with. My wife was already working the business. It is her business, but now we’re a husband and wife team. She’ll make sure I stay in line and keeps things running. She keeps me on task. We currently employ six team members outside of ourselves, and are looking at possibly adding more as we grow.”
As far as serving the Mustang community, Matt said, “We love it. We love having the ability to serve the schools especially, and also the small businesses just like us. We have three kids and we’re very involved in the area. Our kids play sports to stay active, and we’re active in the church here, so we love being a part of this community. We love to serve the community. It’s a great opportunity. We’re a part of the Chamber of Commerce in Mustang. With the schools, we know that there’s a lot of budget concerns that have to be thought of when ordering shirts, and we can offer them a better price than a lot of our competitors so that they get the most value for their dollar.”
