It would have been easy for Carl Albert to look past Southeast last week.

The Titans have a tough slate ahead with a trip to undefeated Bishop McGuinness on Friday followed by dates with Guthrie and Piedmont.

But they didn’t fall for the trap.

The Titans (5-2, 3-0) topped the much-improved Spartans 70-16 at Speegle Stadium. Junior tailback Xavier Robinson powered the offense with 200 yards and five touchdowns and another score on special teams.

“We knew that they could score points in a hurry,” said coach Mike Dunn. “Our kids played really hard from the beginning to the end. They were firing on all cylinders and played really well on special teams.”

Southeast (5-2, 1-2) is off to one of their best starts in years. They came into last week’s game averaging more than 50 points per game, led by running back Rodney Fields and brothers Michael and Mishawn Graham.

“We knew their skills players are as good as any out there,” Dunn said.

Carl Albert led 49-12 at halftime.

Junior quarterback Kash Ferris was 7 of 11 passing for 137 yards and one touchdown. Trey Washington led the team in receiving with three catches for 103 yards and one score.

Caden Davis carried the ball 7 times for 57 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore Deontra Dukes also ran for a score.

Defensively, the Titans were led by Brock Johnson, Davis and Easton Harless. Johnson and Davis each had four sacks. Harless finished with eight tackles including three tackles for loss.
The win over Southeast sets up a clash between the Titans and Irish for control of District 5A-2. McGuinness (6-0, 3-0) knocked off Guthrie (5-1, 1-1) last week in a 30-27 thriller.

“They [McGuinness] have some guys that we need to contain and play good defense because they really don’t have any weak spots,” Dunn said. “It’ll really be a good test for us. They are one of those teams that – regardless of what happens – will be a playoff team. And we’re looking forward to the challenge.”

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Pribil Stadium in Oklahoma City.
