Midwest City teen to compete for Team USA

Midwest City’s Ashton Hale, a sophomore at Casady High School, will compete for Team USA in the 2022 World Skate Roller Games in road and track inline speed skating events to be held in Beunos Aires, Argentina on Oct. 24 – Nov. 13.

Hale earned a spot on Team USA by medaling in six events, getting first place for a team position and placing second in overall point in Junior Division (age 14-18). Tryouts for the USA World Team were held at the Brian Piccolo Velodrome in Florida in September. The 2022 USARS World Team trials had the best inline speed skaters in the nation competing for the six positions in each division.

The trials consisted of nine different sprint and long distances events on both road and banked track.

The World Roller Games includes the World Championships of all roller sports under World Skate’s aegis in one city during a 15-day skating festival: 10 sports, 61 national federations, 193 national teams, and more than 3,000 athletes.

Hale trains indoors and outdoors with the Star Skate Speed team in Midwest City. He is coached and mentored by Ricky Defalco, Chris Hale and Heather Laufer. Draper Lake and Hefner Lake trails are his favorite outdoor places to skate outdoors. Star Skate in Midwest City is the best indoor floor for both competitive and recreational skating. When not on skates, Ashton also enjoys success as a member of the Casady High Cross Country Team.

Ashton,who lives in Midwest City, is nationally recognized for his success as a speed skater. He is proud to represent his home, family, Star Skate Speed, BONT Skates and now the USA.
