Driver crashes through fence on I-40

A driver was hospitalized this afternoon after a vehicle crashed through a fence on Interstate 40 near Midwest City’s Town Center Plaza.

The crash happened about 2:44 p.m.

Officials said a Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on I-40 and departed the roadway near the Town Center Dr. exit. The vehicle struck a light pole and a chain link fence along the highway, before hitting a tree near the Midwest City Tourism Information Center, 7200 SE 29th St.

Firefighters used extraction tools to free the woman from the vehicle. She was then rushed to a nearby hospital. Her condition was not released.

Midwest City police, firefighters and Oklahoma Highway Patrol were on the scene.
