Del City gets first district wins

Del City’s softball team picked up its first district wins of the season, as they beat Santa Fe South in a doubleheader last Friday night.
The Lady Eagles won the first game 13-1.
Rayna Nash had three hits and was the winning pitcher. She went 3 for 3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs. She allowed one run on two hits in three innings.
Cheyan Creekmore was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Ava Vara drove in three runs.
In game two, the Lady Eagles had to rally late for a 10-7 victory.
Santa Fe South pulled ahead with four runs in the fifth inning and added another in the sixth for a 7-4 lead.
Gina West gave Del City the lead on a groundout in the sixth inning. She later scored on a passed ball and Ryen Gaddis singled in a run for a 10-7 lead. The Lady Eagles recorded the final three outs for the win.
Gaddis started in the circle and threw five innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits and four walks. She also notched seven strikeouts. Nash pitched the final two frames.
Vara led the way with three hits for Del City. Gaddis drove in two runs.
